HALOVATE contains Halobetasol propionate which belongs to the group of medicines called topical corticosteroids. It is the best ointment for skin infection, indicated for the topical treatment of a variety of skin conditions such as skin rash, eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis.. Halobetasol is a super-high potency corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and antipruritic properties. It can effectively reduce swelling, itching and redness associated with allergic skin conditions.
This medicine is for external use only. Avoid contact of this medicine with your eyes, ears, nose or mouth. If contact happens, rinse it thoroughly with plenty of water. Do not cover the treated area unless directed by physician. HALOVATE should not be used on the face, groin, or in the axillae. This medicine should not be used for more than 2 weeks at a time due to the risk of hypothalamic-pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis suppression. If you cannot see any improvement within 2 weeks of therapy, inform your doctor. Your doctor might suggest an alternative therapy.
The most common side effects of this medicine are burning sensation, itching or redness at application site. These symptoms are usually temporary and disappears within a few days of treatment. Before applying this medicine, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not apply this medicine if you have certain other type of skin disorders such as rosacea or perioral dermatitis. HALOVATE is strictly not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age. Consult your doctor for advice before taking.

Apply a thin layer of this medicine to the affected skin once or twice daily, as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. Application site reaction (itching, burning or redness):
Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate the skin. Do not rub or scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. Regularly use moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. If it does not get better, speak to a doctor.
HALOVATE is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
